1952 8N Oil Pressure too high?

Still in the pursuit of restoring my grandfather's 8N, and have a question.

About 15 years ago, my grandfather rebuilt the engine on the tractor. I used it many times to move snow, and he has used it since for garden work. Now that I own the tractor, I have noticed that the Oil Pressure at 2000 rpm is 42 psig. I did change the oil and filter last week, but have not run the tractor for very long. It generally reads this value on an initial startup, but I do remember once that it dropped to around 30 after brush-hogging for several hours.

Is there any concern for this pressure. I am new to the board, and have mainly seen issues with low pressure?

Tom

I would think your greatest concern would be not to leave that tractor out where others on this board could get thier hands on it.

I don't think its a problem. Mine starts at 50 PSI, then drops to about 25 when working hard. I use non detergent 30 weight oil.

Thanks!

The history of the tractor is when my grandfather purchased this tractor it had been "rebuilt". After an initial use, Grandpa noticed that it used as much oil as gas. During the winter months, he removed the head and found that the valves were so loose that "you could ring-em like a bell". At that point he completly rebuilt the engine. He has always felt that the engine was very strong. I guess he was right!!
