The switch is not repairable, at least not when a new one is only $10 or so.

Once you remove the plate the button and the gear shift sit on by removing the bolts it will be obvious how to remove the button. You may need to replace the plate gasket.

You may find it impossible to remove the shifter plate if the dash panel fits down tightly against it. On my side distributor one I had to pull the dash to get the front bolts out. ( Pull hood first) You may be able to pull the bolts and slide it upwards and out of the way enough to get it out. DO IT THE RIGHT WAY and replace the switch so you keep your nuetral safety switch function!

Now if we could only get that sticking capsloc key of yours to work we'd be doin' sumpin! ;-)
