Where is this located on my 2N? I seem to be losing prime and the board says that this can
be primed by removing and filling with oil.
The engine has been rebuilt (by someone else),
so I'm just learning what wasn't done or done
right. Also is there a source for a new oil relief spring and bolt? I have tried the board advertisers and can not seem to locate the parts.

Thank You,

Newbee ChuckD in Texas

I used the technique you describe to prime my 2N just this past week-end. The tractor had not been started for over 8 years and this method worked like a charm. The retaining bolt is on the front of the engine in the vicinity of the water pump. It has a 15/16" hex head and is not very easy to get to. A box end wrench works great. The bolt is under a bit of pressure due to the spring but can easily be controlled with your fingers when it is removed. I inserted a short piece of flexible plastic tubing into the hole and squirted some oil into the other end of the tubing to complete the priming process. Hope this works as well for you as it did for me.

Spring is up front under a large hex head cap. Seems to me just to the right and below the fan as you look at the engine from the front.

Springs and valves are available from the FNH/Case, whatever dealer.

Yes, the little bullett thing is supposed to have a flat on it.
