I have a 1944 2-n that the back two clylinders won`t get fire to. I have two turning and two burning, no fire on left bank of distributor. Itwill start with a 12 volt battery hooked to the started and runs and sounds like a J-D. I hAve good continunity on all wire the plugs are a little oil soaked but have cleaned them up the rotor and rotor cap seem great as does the coil. The only problem is no fire off left side of the distributor. Any help much appreciated!

Continuity on your plug wires does not tell
you the condition of the insulation. The easiest
is to replace them unless you know the wires
are reasonably new and the insulation is good.
The 'after dark' inspection is a good idea but
you may not be able to see a leak inside the
wire tube.

I guess I would change the plugs and maybe the wires just for good measure. Especially changing the plugs always helps something...even if not the primary problem the engine will run much more sweet. Distributor caps are pretty notorious for looking OK when they really arent. Try starting the tractor at night in the dark and look for arcing around the cap.
