1-Head it out to where you have room to run it around. 2-Jack a rear wheel up, start the engine. 3-Pull tractor in to gear. 4-Depress clutch.
5-Have someone push tractor off blocks.
6-Repeat 1-5 if the above fails first time.
Figure out and understand what you are going to do before you start. If you are not comfortable with the proceedure DON'T DO IT! It will work. ray

It sounds like the clutch is stuck. This can happen if a tractor is not used for a long period. One way to free it is to start the tractor in gear by towing and then push in the clutch and apply the brakes at the same time to put a load on it. Any way that you can load the tracor while having the clutch in may work. Be carefull and good luck.

Um, if you tow the tractor, it starts, but the clutch won't let go, I sure hope you are thinking about how to stop that tractor before it runs over the tow-er!

Rolling down a hill might at least invlove one less person & vehicle in the crash. :)

yeah, but....

How do you get it to the top of the hill?

And then how do you get it rolling in gear?
Tow truck with a pushing bumper maybe?
Then what do you push on in the rear of the tractor?

Arghhhh!... Too early for brain teasers...

Just block the clutch down, put it in fourth gear and one guy get on each rear wheel and rock the livin' begeezes out of her front to back. It has worked in the past.

:-)

Well, just pull it to the top of the hill (in neutral, key off) with your other tractor or a pickup.

But then, I have 2 pickups & 5 tractors. And I do not have a flat spot on any of my 200 acres. Maybe some of you don't have a second tractor? And I hear rumors there are places that don't even have a hill, altho I can't imagine such a thing!

:) :) :)

Your idea sounds much safer than the two person multi-vehicle collision described earlier. As soon as the clutch pops, it will free up all at once. A few times rocking the rear tires should do the trick. IF, however it is still stuck, the only way I would pull it , is to leave the key or ignition wire off. These things will just go when you start them in gear. Don't ask how I know. Claus already got me for that one. Be safe. Dale in VA.
