2N oil pump and pressure?

If a 2N has sat a while, say a few weeks or months, without running, how long should it take for the oil pump to start pumping oil? I had to take the oil pressure line off from the bell housing to the gauge to replace with a new one. I've tried to start it with the line off so I can see if it pumps oil good, but can't get the tractor to run right now. It only sputters breifly and then dies. Is that enough to get it to pump oil out? I haven't seen any, but it hasn't run yet either.

Most oilpumps really don't pump on the starter rpms to slow.

Try a shot of quick start, if it starts right up, then you know you got clogged carb jet, if it don't start on quick start, you got ignition problems.

An early contributor to the N-Board claimed 90% of all carb problems were found in the ignition system. Something to think about..... ..Dell

To answer your question on oil pressure, I just went through this on my 8n. If it's sat too long the oil pump may have lost it's prime (yep, hard to believe!). I primed mine yesterday by removing the pressure relief valve (just above the dist and to the right on the 8n) and spring and shooting a squirt can full of oil into the oil galley. Put back the relief valve and she should be primed right up!
