HOW COME NONE OF YOU SAID THESE THINGS ARE ADDICTING?!?!? AAAAA GGGHHHH!!!!

Ahhh! I feel better. Now--could anybody help me acquire a GENERATOR BRACKET for a 1939 9N??

I just bought this machine for a working tractor, and it would probably be nice if ALL of it worked, including the charging system. It arrived sans generator bracket. Anybody got one they wanna get rid of?? I still have some money left.

Ah yes. I have said on quite a few occaisions that these buggers are addictive. You will be buying parts, books, implements, and probably other tractors. Of course you need tools and a new barn or garage. Yup. You have the idea.

Others may cringe, but if it is a working tractor, you may want to consider converting it to 12 volts. I have a converted 9N working tractor (which has an identity crisis being painted like an 8N) that works well. There is nothing wrong with the original 6 volt system, but the 12 volt with an alternator on a working tractor is more forgiving.

If you are handy, you can scrounge parts and it is relatively inexpensive. If you are not, you can buy complete kits, but the posts on these are not very complementary.

Didn't produce a bracket, just some food for thought.

Jerry--
I can appreciate your helpfulness regarding all the stuff I'm supposed to need, but I've been racing cars, building mud trucks, and being Mr. Fix-It for my local rurality forever.

Tools? Got 3 rolling racks, two steel cabinets, 3 benches, and two totables full of tools.

Barn(s)? Got three. One with horses, one for shop, and one being restored (slowly, obviously)

I can do this. I have everything I need except A DOGGONE GENERATOR BRACKET!!!!! I could even make one if I knew what it looked like.

I'm not a collector, but I'd like to keep it original, hence the requirement for that darned thing.

You don't need yours, do you?? Huh? Huh???

This is the best pic I've got. Be careful, you tear into an N series, and you become N bitten. The early N's such as yours may not have had the spring support rod and head bolt connection, I've just seen the bottom bracket. For an absolute correct restoration this may not be desireable, but it does make the gen much more stable.

Bill--That pic helps a bunch!! Thanks! The Ford guys sent me some manual pages showing all brackets for 9N, 8N, 2N, but didn't know what the spring bracket was for. Now I know.

Since this is primarily a working tractor, workability comes first. Glad you clued me in!
