I bought a 12 Volt conversion for My 8N and I got the front wired per the instructions and then it came back to the Guages switches and resistor I ran into two problems. First I need a new resistor, mine is broken. Secound the horrible xerox copy of the instructions are cut off and I can't figure out where the rest of the wires go?! Does any one have a schematic of an 8N with a GM single wire alt. and using the original resistor for something I can't tell. I need to get my tractor back together PLEASE HELP!

Thanks, Brian

Front Mount Dist. I also have a 12Volt coil for the dist. I just don't see why I need the resistor.... Besides that most of the schematics I have found kind of counterdick each other. Everyone tells me that the 8N was a positive frame. Mine was a negative frame and it also had a 8Volt battery when I got it. The wiring was a joke. It had every thing from the orig. wires to brand new thhn wire. That was one reason I decided to redo it so I could depend on it starting and running right in the dead of winter. Any help would be appreachated. Thanks.

Brian

Look at the Nseries for wiring. For a one wire altinator, just leave off the jumper and wire that goes to P1 and Alt terminal and the wire that goes from P2 to ignition switch through a side marker light. As far as the resistor goes, they are available at one of our sponsors. On the side mount, it goes between the ignition coil and the ignition switch. On the front mount, it goes in front or after the ballast resistor. That is assuming you are leaving the original coil in the circuit.
