Just had bearings replaced on the generator on my 2N's (6 volt pos. ground) generator which recently seized up. Now that I have it back on, at 3/4 throttle the ampeter reads at 20 to 25 + amps. Is this normal?

Also, how hot should the case of the generator get during operation?

There are guys on this board who are much more familiar with systems like yours (which sounds like original), but I'll give my 2 cents. After cranking the engine, the battery may be low, and it will charge at about 25 amps for awhile, but it should settle down to about 2 or 3 amps eventually. I don't think the generator should run hot; you may have a problem. I think there are adjustments that can be made to control the amount of charge the system will give.
Hopefully, someone will respond with more help. Good Luck.
