Just jacked up neighbours tractor to install sure seals. When weight off ground the wheel moved back and forth a lot. A closer inspection showed that the rivets in the brake drum and axle must have come loose in the past. Someone welded the axle to the drum. Now that weld has broken and I am not sure the best plan of attack. Spend the big bucks and take it to a welding shop that could reweld it properly. Preheat metal etc. Maybe I should just leave it and let the old boy use the tractor for his once weekly outing and try to find another axle and drum. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks. Barry

sounds like an ongoing and recurring problem. my gut reaction was to get a new drum and axle. they're available at parts oultets etc. an easy find...and i wouldn't think it would brake (pun intended)the bank. let us know what you decide.

BarrY i posted a reply to a lady awhile back, and i used my old axle housing trumpets for a planter outside. i put plastic flowers in them and dig a hole and use them along my drive and road. they make a natural vase for plastic flowers. cg
