Well I bought the 2N with the Hupp auxiliary for the price of 2 rear tires. My plan is to split my restored 9N and install the 2N Hupp... switching the two transmission housings. The 9N transmission is in fine shape. Can you replace the housing without removing the gears piece by piece? Or would it be easier to drill out the housing for the shifter lever then line up everything and install the Hupp?

Bill..... ..If ya' really got the hots for a hupp (now I sound like a poet, grin), and your original tranny is in fine shape, I'd vote for drilling your original tranny to fit the Hupp shifter. Reason, swapping gears are going to change bearing clearances etc and make a whinner out of your gear transplanted tranny. But before you do anything drastic, check that the Hupp fits your tranny input gear. Some of the early N's had straight cut gears and later ones changed to hylical (spelling) cut gears. Then if they match, go for it. Because basically all you are doing is changing the driveshaft between the clutch plate and the tranny only your new drive shaft is now called a Hupp.

Good Luck, and let us know how it turns out..... Dell

It will be a while before the transformation is done, but I will post the results and pics for those interested in auxiliary conversions. Thanks, Dell.
