My 2n has a drainage problem. That little hole on the underside about a foot behind the motor drain plug is dripping oil. It must be from the trans and rear end as when ever I fill it it goes to the low mark. If I park it on an upgrade it doesn't seem to leak. Am I over filling it? Or is there a seal or something that is bad? Help!

Gary..... yep, sounds like ya' gotta tranny front seal problem. If the oil level stays consistantly low and never goes much lower, its whatever your tolorance level for drips are. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

You know your tranny/differential/hydraulics use the same 5 gallons reservour of oil, mostly for heat sink capacity (hydraulic pumps heat the oil real good) and so instead of having a hydraulic radiator, Ford just uses a lot of oil. I and most other N-Tractor drivers have come off with "roasted tosties" from sitting on top that hot hydraulic reservour after 8 hrs of mowing.

There are a lot on N-Tractors that are run low just so they don't drip out the clutch drain hole. Ya' really have enuff oil to keep everything from siezing up anyways. Ya' should have a dingling cotter pin to keep the dirt from plugging up the clutch drain (we're talking hi-tech here)

Hope this helps..... Dell

AH-HAH!
I always wondered what the cotter pin was for.
Thanks.
