I have just talked to Judy. She plans on letting the mechanic at the dealer repair her tractor at his house at 20.00 per hr. labor.I offered to get any part she needs and if the mechanic wanted to rob her,I would come and get the tractor and repair it.She got the estimate cost reduced to 100.00.[rip off].The name of this dealer is Hines Equipment in Rocky Mount NC.I don't think anyone needs to be doing business with these folks. don

I hope that everybody who reads this will never darken the door of this Ford/New Holland dealership. The kind of business they are running is nothing more than plain robbery. Should be procecuted!

Hope Judy has good luck with the mechanic from the shop. The labor rate sounds reasonable enough is he is an honest man.

I still think that the only thing wrong with the clutch is that it needs to be adjusted. Could be other things though as we all know. Sometimes what seems simple gets complicated. Could be that the yoke to the throwout bearing is broken or cracked or the throwout bearing gone bad or I have even seen a pin come out of one of the pressure plate fingers and make it impossible to disengage.

I wish you luck anyway Judy. And a special thanks to you guys who were willing to make an effort to help her. Lots of good honest people still out there.

Zane

I enlisted Jim(NC) to go help me, but neither one of us is free to go right now. Judy emailed me this morning and said the mechanic is taking the tractor to his shop at home and says he can fix it right. I held my offer open to help as soon as I finish up a couple of things, if this course of action doesn't work.

NO, he wanted 150.00.When she picked up the tractor,he cut the estimate cost to 100.00.Awful nice of him huh? From what I gather, the only thing wrong with her tractor, is the clutch. This job should not cost over 250.00,parts and labor. She also expressed her thanks to all on the board that has helped her.You guys are great, keep it up. don

Good one, Don.

Anyone who's looking for a good source for old tractor bits might want to bear Don in mind - what he's doing here gives you a measure of the kind of person you're dealing with. And what the alternatives are, as Judy found out . . . .

llater,
