Overhauling 2N; When putting in crank seals, how is the oilpan gasket to be installed so there is no leakage. Do oilpan gaskets butt up to rope seals or do the pan gasket ends go between the seaks or ? Also what is the best way to install the thin wall sleeves? Any suggestions would help. Dont want to damage them putting them in.

Most gasket sets use a pan gasket that will go all the way up agains the crankshaft sealing surface and on top of the seal ends.

Back at the little Ford tractor dealership where I worked for years we had a seating tool for the seals and you just installed the seals and used the tool which was shaped like the crankshaft sealing surface by hammering it down on the inner portion of the seals. One was for the front seal and one for the rear seal.

Now days since I don't have that tool I just use a socket of about the same size as the crankshaft seal surface diameter.

With the original Ford crank seals it was not necessary to trim the ends of the seals. I have come up against some of the aftermarket seals though that had to be trimmed a little to fit.

Always let about a sixteenth of an inch of seal be above the level of the block and pan. It will squeeze down to fit thight on the crankshaft.
