Hello,

I have just reassembled the ol girl.
New wiring harness
New plugs and wires
New exhaust manifold, gaskets, carb
New radiator
New linkage
New fuel and oil lines
New oil gauge

I cannot get it to run below 5/8 throttle. It runs well at that level and up. Below 5/8 it pops, sputters and dies. Spark plug wires are ok. On the right plugs too. Plugs gapped ok.
Govenor works ok.

Could it be my distrubutor?
Could it be low compression?

Thanks

(yes i did read through 20-30 messages in the archives that appeared relevant to no avail)

Bill..... ...yer runnin too lean and thats why yer poppin below 5/8 throttle. Above 5/8 throttle more the main jet comes into play.

Major big guess, (and this is a pretty sure bet, because you report that you've already changed your manifold and carb) leaky carb manifold gaskets somewheres. Take some WD-40 spraycan long straw nozzle and go huntin. The oil will temporary seal the air leak and thus enrich and smoothout the engine. Then all ya gotts to do is fixit cuz ya found it..... ..Dell

I'll give it a shot. (no pun intended) I forgot to add that I can get it to idle down if I start to pull out the choke.

Bill..... ..guess what? when you pull your choke, you enrich your fuelmixture. What did I tell you? You're runnin too lean below 5/8 throttle and it is usually caused by an airleak somewhere..... ..Dell
