My lift worked fine in warm weather, but now that its finally cold its started jerking and moving real slow.

I'm using 90 weight now. Would changing to another fluid help ?

Is this a symptom of a bigger problem ?
yes, I checked the archives and the f-04 but get conflicting info.

Aslong as your going to change it out anyways I'd put in the 134d recomended by Ford. Most oil outlets sell it . Got mine at NAPA.Not that much diff in price. Better for the pump. My .02 worth.

See my other post about dip stick heaters. If you have any water in the three point sub zero temps will punish you for it. Jerky three point lift is just the most noticeable symptom. My hydralics work at sub zero with 80/90 and a dip stick heater but until things get warmed up I still have some jerk and slow position control.

Your mileage may vary

You probably have water in the oil.
I just went through this myself. When temps got down to the low teens here it lifted once but wouldn't go back down. I let it sit in a heated garage overnight, drained it out and cleaned out all the gunk in the bottom. Then refilled with 80w 90 5 gal. Just did this on Sunday and now it's working good again.
