We have two outside cats (not my choice)that keep getting on my tractor and my truck. Is there a humane way to keep them off? I must be getting mellow in old age. I would never have asked this 25 years ago. Thanks for the advice

Here is an effective and fairly humane way.

Do you have an electric fencer. I think you might connect the hot wire to the tractor as long as it isn't grounded anywhere else. When the cats reach up to touch it, wham!, cat scrams like mad. No obvious long term harm except a few lost brain cells. But they don't have many to begin with.

Good luck.

I'd rather have the cat on my ttractor than the mice munching the wires & living in every little hole they can find. Besides Sam, my cat thinks it's his tractor as long as it's not running.

I have a Tom Cat named Gnarls. He kinda thinks he is a dog. He seems to be "intimate" with Racoons from the scars and chunks frequiently missing. He never sits on my tractors and I don't care anyway. He smacks the crap out of Egypt my dog.

I respect his very large testostrone vessels, and his prickish elitest attitude. He follows me around the farm and yeowls at me a lot like a dog.

We have a lot in common

Just move the cats into the house. They are just little women in fur coats. Dogs have owners and cat have staff.

Whoo-boy! No too many cat lovers here! That's ok, I'm not fond of 'em either. But this makes me think of an interesting psycho-logical profile we could do here. Do all N-Owners hate cats? Love dogs? Hate anything green and yellow?

On a practical note, try laying something the cats find uncomfortable on the tractor, like a rubber floor mat, the kind with the little nubs sticking up. Their paws don't like the feel of those.

Well there is a product to repel small animals. I saw it on the web, search for "squirrel control" or "pest control" or something like that. It is a chemical that will not harm people or things but acts like tabasco on the bottoms of the paws.
On a personal note, since we got four cats from a near by farm our extreme mouse problem disapeared. If those cats want on the warm hood of my truck or tractor so be it. I got shop rags for that. Good luck.

Just warm the tractor or truck up on a cold winter day. Than let the cats get comfy.... and start them up again. Messy.... but a very inocent mistake. I have done it.

Somewhere, probably in a pet supply catalog, I saw a product that you spray on furniture to keep cats and dogs off. Might work if you sprayed a band around the sides and on the seat and decks. I gave up a long time ago. My personal favorite is when they ski down the windshield of my car with muddy paws.

Cats hate water. I suggest a high pressure stream of water anytime you see them close to your rigs, they learn fast DAMHIKT

How far is the Cat away from the backdoor of the house? 25 yards? Clean Shot? Just a thought.

Your a Lucky Man, I have a Friend that has Goats. And he has Hoof prints on the hood and roof of his cars. ( I wonder how they got there) I won't even take my new truck over there.

So Cats aren't that bad..Remember it could be worse.

If you can teach the cats to fetch (which I doubt) you could then throw the ball across a busy highway.

Cat lovers, please don't hit me! I am sorry I said that and I humbly ask your forgivness. I don't know what came over me. I'll never say that again I promise!

Its like my little league coach sail a very long time ago"if you throw the ball at their face they'll have to catch it"-I suppose thy same is true for a bullet.

I don't know of any humane ways.If you have a dog you could tie your dog to the front bumper, but then thats not fair to your dog. Now if you don't have a dog- well I geuss I can't help in this area.

Try mounting one of those good old Mack bulldogs on your rad cap. By the way they don't taste that bad with lots of sweet&sour sauce at the local chinese resturant.
