How much can a 2N lift with the 3-pt arms? I have a Bush Hog that doesn't get much more then off the ground, but the front wheels of the tractor are floating by then, too. Is this too much mower, or are there mounts for suitcase weights to hang on the front when the lift is working right?

Tad..... ...generally speaking, your N's hydraulics will lift about 750 lbs before the frontwheels start flappin innna breeze and ya gotts to steer witha rearbrakes. Most N's use 5' bushoggs that weigh about 500# or less. I have never seen suitcase weights on N's, not that it couldn't be done if'n you made up a bracket. I have seen castiron wheel weights mounted on the frontwheel rims.

A couple of years ago, llamas, one of the founding members of this great N-Board, reported that after rebuilding his 2N's hydraulics and chaining down the front, he was able to lift 1300# of lead bricks before the internal safety valve popped off..... ..Dell

Er, no, it was 1200#. And that was weight attached to a drawbar between the hitch balls - no cantilevered load at all.

As Dell suggests, the largest weight you can lift with any kind of cantilevered component - like an implement on the hitch - is in the 700/800# range. Any more, and the front wheels will lift off the ground.

llater,

llamas
