Last week my brother left the ignition key in the on position for 36 hours after using my 49 8N. After discovering this, it started fine by died after a few seconds. I replaced the coil, points, rotor, condensor, distributor cap, fuse on the wiring block behind the dashboard. Even cleaned the battery connections, checked the carb. Turns over fine but won't fire up. What else could have been damaged assuming the points were closed when the key was left on?

If it started with out jumping it the points were not closed or the battery would have been dead in 36 hours. This would mean that nothing electrical would have changed as no current will flow with the points open. Did he shut the gas valve off on you??
