URL stands for Uniform Resource Location. When you look at anything on the internet, photos, text, etc., it has a unique URL. It seems that you are somehat computer savy, so you probably know how large image files can get. With everything on the internet having a URL, when a webite needs the file, it will read a temporary copy of it and discard it when it is no longer finished. This saves on storage space all around. So, for your photo to be seen here, it has to be at a location where the "internet" can see it whenever it needs to. For instance, many ISPs provide space for their clients to store web pages and such.
Here is the first picture taken of my son, right after th c-section that delivered him. This picture is stored on my ISPs server and is available by its URL of>Link Link alt='third party image' src="http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1372856&a=10724307&p=51531343" loading="auto" style="width:auto;height:auto">
The picture of my now 3 yr old son on the tractor is stored in my account at Photopoint.com. Photopoint is convienient for storing and sharing photographs without the complexities of FTP uploading to websites. Photopoint is a paid subscription but worth it to me for the convienience. Hope ths helps explain URLs and why they are needed for sharing photos at this website. Ofcourse, if there is a picture you just have to share, e-mail it to me and I will post it to my photopoint account. Ed
