My Jubilee bobs up and down about every 5 seconds with a heavy load on it (6' mower). I read the manual and the archives on the subject. I removed the filler cap and did not see any fluid seeping from around the piston, or from anyplace else. The archives suggest that the principal cause is a leaking piston o-ring. I don't think that is the problem as I see nothing seeping even as the piston is bobbing in and out. The manual suggests that it might be the control value and bushing being worn. They are difficult, if not impossible to find. Does anyone have a difinitive test to locate the problem, or any suggestions on what else this could be? The piston pump is not the problem and I have very fine and accurate contro throughout the range, other than the bobbing. Thanks.

My Jub also had the hiccups and with guidance from Zane and the I & T manual I went completely throught the hydraulics. My piston seals were good as it would hold up a 600 lb bush hog overnight. What I found was the bore inside the control valve and unloading valve have enough pitting and light corrosion to allow some bypassing. The problem is the only fix is to buy an overhauled housing with the valves installed. These are very close tolerances and are hand fitted. I learned a lot from the local FNH mechanic who knows Jub hydraulics. I chose to live with the nuisance as it doesn't affect my work. I have read where some guys go to the 90 wt mineral oil and the higher viscosity will make up the difference. I stayed with 134 and accept the bumping. Hope this helps.

I hear what you are saying. You could be talking about my NAA, because it does exactly the same thing. So, I went and bought one of the hydraulic repair videos from this site, and they take apart a Jubilee hyd unit right there, on camera. There are several o rings and gasket seals that could cause this, as well as a sticky control valve. I have not fixed mine, but after looking at the video, it does not look too hard to fix. I'm not much help to you here, I know, but I'd suggest the video, some beer, and an evening under the cover of your hydraulic system. And when you figure it out, let me know. That bobbing and jerking is annoying, eh?
