I have a 1948 8N. On shifting from reverse to 2nd it felt like it started into one gear without completely shifting out of the other - result is its locked up. Didn't feel like anything broke. I took off the transmission top plate and attempted to move the right side shift fork and/or top shift fork and neither will move, left side moves ok. I have heard of this and have heard its usually possible to unstick it without disassembly. Suggestions?

try jacking rear end clear and get someone to rock the wheels at least take any pressure off. You should be able to move the rail with a long flat screw driver. On my TEA 20 the shift fork broke right off and flopped over inside the case. regards
