I have purchased new hydraulic lift safety valve and NAA ram piston for my 1952 8N. Does anyone know if I can install these new items without removing the entire lift assembly from the tractor, and if so, give me a hint as to the technique?

Many thanks

You have to remove the top cover to change out the ram piston. With the cover off you should have pretty good access to the safety valve. You will have to remove the right side cover to get the control arm in the inlet valve socket.

You can replace the safety valve through the access covers. As Jerry says, you will need to alter a stock wrench to remove the old valve and tighten the new one.

However, to replace the piston, the top cover has to come off, and once the cover is off, replacing the valve becomes child's play, with no special wrench required. For much fuller details, the I&T manual will show everything you need to know.

Yes you can do it without removing the pump. You have to have small hands and if you bend up a wrench it is helpful (although not required). I don't recall the specifics, but as I recall, you drain the oil, pull the pto and right side cover, and you can gain enough acess to change out the valve. I'm sure someone who has done this recently can fill in the blanks.
