Hey Dave,

How many Coors Light does it take to remove, repair, and install the lift cover?;-)

I chatted with him last night. We had to end our conversation cause the Coors Light truck was pulling up in his driveway. :-)

BTW, the lift cover is not back in his 8N.

Belch!

Just always remember that the back up washer goes on the opposite side from the oil.It is so the O ring will not be cut on the sharp edge of the piston ring gland when pressure pushes it toward the ram rod end of the cylinder or the open end of the cylinder.

The smaller wiper washer goes towards the front, i.e. toward the end with the hole.

I managed to get 'em both on without any special processing -- just a lot of grunt. But then, I'm a pretty big guy. Check through the archives for any advice in addition to Tyler's about how to get 'em on.

When you put the piston back in, it will go in easier if you wipe a bit of hydraulic fluid on the washers first.

Dave,

The leather backup warsher goes on first. You need to heat up the warsher by soaking it in hot water or warm it up somehow. Press the warsher down in the groove then follow it with the o-ring on top.
