Jubilee valve adjustment question

Went to adjust the valves on the Jub and noticed the exhaust valves are missing the caps on the valve stems. They will adjust down OK but will it hurt to run it without them??? Also noticed the exhaust valve rocker arms are not centered on the valve stem, they are off to one side- but not hitting the spring retainer. Is this normal or do they make washers to shim the rockers to the side??? I have an I&T manual but it doesn't cover this. THanks for any suggestions

I am not going to say it will not hurt anything to run without the caps on the exhaust valve stems but if it has been running that way for some time I'd not worry about it. At one time I heard what they were actually for but don't remember. The rocker arms do not always align with the valves. It all probably has something to do with getting the valves to rotate. fwiw, ray
