Pet cock problems, know how to get threads out?

I was taking pet cock out of engine block and the threads broke off. I used 2 screw extractors to get out the screw then the extractors broke off. Can they hurt the engine? Its out of my league to get into the engine. Does anyone know how to get the threads out or is it better to tap it?

If the pieces of the extractors fell into the waterjacket just let them lay there. They won't hurt a thing.
I would just drill out all but the very last part of the threads and then retap the threads. Don't drill out too much or you will have to go the next size larger petcock.
