Were all the original R cab tractors row crop?
I saw a picture of one on another site with wide front and it just didn't look right.

It is my understanding the cab for the "R" could be bought as an option. Therefor it could be fitted to a row-crop or wide front. I have no proof of this so don't hold me to it.

It is my understanding that there were 401 of those R Cabs made in 1938. Not all were mounted on tractors at that time! I have a 1942 R with a Factory cab that was bought new localy but they put the cab on it to get rid of the cab new. I also have another cab in rough shape. Hope that helps you out. DOUG

Kevin is partly right, but I'm pretty sure both wide front and narrow front agricultural R's could be equipped with cabs. You just don't see many wide front/cab combinations.

No, They where not! Some of the cabbed "r"s where what they called a mail carrier specials and had a wide front axle under them. They had racks along side by the engine compartment and just above the front axle to haul mail bags with.
