I need to know if there was a G conversion kit made for the UB tractor, as to get more power in the field. I hear some say there was, and some say it never happened. Need to know the REAL truth.

We are restoring A Minn.Moline BRONCO to original , but it has been painted so many different colors we wondered if someone could tell us original colors

Randy,
Do you by chance mean a Waterloo Bronco? Its a small tractor with a 2 cyl Wisconsin engine. Moline never made the Bronco but it is sometimes thought of as a Moline especially in Canada. Waterloo was a distributor of Moline tractors in Canada. I've talked with several Canadian farmers that don't know what a Moline tractor is but do know what a Waterloo tractor is even though the Waterloo Molines had both Waterloo and Moline decals. I've got a Waterloo Bronco and I've got a friend with 2 more. Let me know if this is what you're talking about and I can send you more info.

Yes the Waterloo Bronco. We thought it was moline because it did have decals. I would appreciate any info. thank you

I don't know if there ever was a factory adapter kit or not..... But...I have a friend that pulls a UB and he put a G motor in it. In fact I helped him. And.. like some one said before me.. you have to do some grinding on the bell housing for the starter to fit... and I forget...but maybe the ring gear has to be changed also...not sure...Jim

A G motor can be bolted to a U or UB trans but you will have problems getting a starter installed. People say you have to grind out the bell housing area to make clearance. The other option is to build a 403 motor using the UB crankcase. Then the starter will not be an issue.

hello,
dont know if it was a factory option or not, im not going to say either way, but i can count several MM U's and UB's, that had the g motor in them, that were used for farming, and after the M5 came out i know of several of those motors that were put in to farm with.
Back in those days, engine and parts were a lot cheaper then buying a differnt tractor
just my thought

I don't consider myself an expert but I do have some knowledge and expierence on Moline. I'm sure the company never offered a conversion kit but you can can change the 283 CID engine in the UB to the 403 Cid in the GB by changing the crank, blocks, pistons and heads or you can change to the 340 CID in the GTC by changing the same components but staying with the 41/4 bore.. There will be some adapting in both insatances.

What kind of PTO horsepower was generated and would the U transmission hold up to the much larger engine?

I've been told a stock 403 gasoline power unit puts out about 60-63 hp. (and they have to visit the gasoline pump quite often.) The transmission probably can stand the Hp if you don't jerk it, but in personal experience, the clutch gets marginal. GB's ran 403's and had two clutch disks instead of one.

I've seen a G motor put out 80 horse with ease. It was an LP though.
