just bought this tractor today at auction and need to get it moved, but don"t what model it is or how much it weighs.

The tag on the engine says D425-6,serial# 0601070,cylinder jug casting# 10A3006,block casting# 10A5100,Transmission casting# 10A5593,Rear tire wheel weight# M-M FT-652B

The tag on the dashboard under the gauges says Nelson Machinery-Serial# 863

The rear tire size is 13.1-26 goodyear dyna torque-12 ply

Has a ROSS steering gear.

American bosch injection pump.

Cast iron radiator with cap that attaches like a brake master cylinder cover

Thanks for your help with if you can identify what model this is.

Also is there anybody in southern california near riverside who is able to haul this OR any ideas on how to get this moved 15-20 miles reasonably? Thanks.

Does it run? If so, and you only have 20 miles to go, drive it. Should only take you 2 hours at the most. It would also be a lot cheaper.

As I recall, not much difference between GTBD and GBD - just production designation and I think a slightly beefier transmission and rear end in the GB as the non-diesel GTB with 403 ci LP could break things - hence the 340 ci LP GTC.

Careful on hauling - the 7400 pounds is without any weights or ballast. Weight can be up to about 12,000 pounds - assuming you have rear wheel weights and front weights and loaded tires - note I think there were 2 rear weight configurations - one of which had double weights and one slightly thicker singles. I believe the doubles were 1200 pounds per wheel and rear ballast in tires could be another 958 pounds per 15-34 rear tire. Then you could have both front wheel weights at 156 pounds per side and chin weights.

Nice tractor for pulling and moderately rare - though GTBD much rarer than GBD. Definitely a keeper.

Minor update - suggest you get Nebraska test no 568 which was GBD - engine was s/n 06701051. Unballasted weight of Diesel was 8170 vs 7400 for gas GB which had a 4 cyl 403 ci. And ballasted weight as tested was 12495 pounds so I was off by 500 pounds - also it had the 34" rears - the 26" would hold more fluid but iron weights smaller diameter and thicker. If you have a FAX, I can send you a copy. You can respond off line

Thanks for the reply's.I now believe it is a GBD based on what you guys said and pictures I have looked up on this site.

What is this difference between a GBD and a GTBD?

Wow 7,500 lbs!It sure LOOKS heavier than that but I think it's just because of it's height and length that makes it deceiving to the eye.

It has rear wheel weights and 7 suitcase weights mounted in front of the radiator.I'm not sure how heavy they are.

The tire size is 23.1-26,not 13.1-26 as mentioned before.

And Shinnery,I'm sorry the engine serial# is actually 06701070,not 0601070 as said before.

If I can figure out a way to get the tractor home soon I will look for the tag under the battery box as that is where I read it would be on that mini mo website.

Has anybody had experience getting a tractor hauled by a tow-truck roll back flatbed?I am going to call some company's tomorrow and see if they would be willing to haul it on their flatbed truck.

I'm not sure if those trucks can haul 7,500-8,000 lbs but I think it's worth a call as I have no other options but to hire a lowbed semi truck and that should cost me more than the tractor is actually worth!

Thanks again...schramm...

Based on the 425 diesel engine and the radiator cap description, it sounds like at GB diesel. It should weight around 7,500 pounds if it does not have any extra weights added.

According to the serial number info at minneapolis-moline dot com the 53-54 GTB-D used a D425-6 but they show the serial numbers started at 06800001 not 060. There should be another number plate on the transmission, usually on the right side, that will have the model and serial numbers for the tractor. Good luck with it.
