Found a Diesel Wheatland U Tractor in a pasture. Serial # tag says U 05000302. I'm a John Deere guy so tell me what have I really found???? Hood decal says U Diesel. Tractor has hand clutch, hydraulic pump, but not PTO. Sheet metal is good. What are the problems with this model? What year is this tractor? Thanks for any info.

A 1954 UTSD sold at an auction here about 10 years ago. I wanted it so bad I could taste it. But I didn't have the $1700 that it sold for.

Are you from around the kansas or nebraska area? My grandpa had one of the tractors you are talking about and before he passed away he sold it to another guy. I have been looking for this tractor for a long long time i was wondring if you would sell it to me i am begging....

No David this tractor isnt mine yet. Ive only spotted itand want to buy it. It is nearly 200 miles from the south end of Kansas so I doubt it was the same tractor. Ill guess it has been sitting for 25+ years. Engine is stuck. Thanks for the reply.

What you have is a very collectible MM model UTSD. Yours happens to be a 1954 model. They were built between 1952 - 1956. They were built using a MM D283-4 diesel engine. As far as I know, these tractors were very reliable, and they were very popular in the wheat growing areas, of the Great Plains.
