A guy has a Minneapolis Moline G-6 with front wheel drive on it. Diesel engine, been sitting for a while outside, but the exhaust is covered. It looks to be all there too. Any problems inherent to this machine that I should look out for? Been an IH man all my life and I know those like to crack heads on the early diesels. Anything with the FWA that has problems to look out for? If I remember right the tractor has a cab too.

I've got a GVI with FWD. It's a pretty neat tractor. Takes a big area to turn it around but I think its worth it. I've been told there were a few of these made from the factory but the majority were dealer add on kits. It's unknown how many were made. It's sort of the predecessor to the G704. I would make sure the drop case out the bottom of the transmission for the FWD is in good condition. If they're not maintained they have a tendency to throw their chain and bust the case. These are quite difficult to find. Moline diesels have a tendency to crack heads. You can find used ones but expect to pay $250-400 a piece. If the engine needs rebuilding, standard oversize pistons are not available from AGCO. You'll need to use G900 pistons. I think they're effectively an 1/8" overbore but not sure. My GVI FWD is definitely a conversation piece at the local shows here in Michigan since very few MM FWD tractors were sold in these parts.
