I have been looking at a tractor that has S/N 28303615. By the listing on this site this is a 1968 Jet Star 3 Super Gas. Have I got that right? It is an industrial tractor set up for highway mowing with a side mounted hydraulic driven sickle bar mower. Also has a 2 range(torque - something) transmission. Where can I find more information about this tractor - like HP rating and other engine specs, transmission info, weight, etc? Thanks.

Dick,
You've actually found a 1967 Jet Star 3 Super tractor with either a gas or LP engine. The serial number range for 1967 is 28302844-28304155. This tractor is generally not considered an industrial but could have been equipped as such from the factory. It was probably originally ordered specifically for highway mowing so it could have variations and options different from the standard row crop type Jet Star 3. Does it have a non-adjustable cast front axle? There was a seperate Industrial version built in 1966 and 1967 only with different serial numbers. Moline referred to their 2 speed planetary system as an Ampli-torc. It was rated at about 40 hp from the factory.

I have '67 jetstar farm tractor, not industrial. HP: approx 44. from a 206 cu. in. overhead valve engine of 3-5/8 bore x 5" stroke.
Weight: estimated 4500#-4700# without aditional ballast. (an Industrial may weigh more if it has cast wheel centers.)
The 2-speed thing is called "ampli-torque"
It should also have a 5 speed transmission.
If it still has the mower on it I would really like to see a picture. Most have been converted to some other use and the mower is long gone.
Just a question: Are you in Georgia? I've seen several Jet3 industrials listed for sale there in the last 2 years.

After seeing a restored 8n sell at auction for $4400 today, not counting 10 percent buyers premium,making it $4840 Your guess is good as mine.

The jetstar 3 has decent torque rise. I have been able to get mine to go up 11 horse power when put under load on a dynometer. In my opinion the jetstar 3 is .... "The nicest "small" tractor MM made" maybe I'm prejudice, cause our farm has 3 of 'em.
