seed drill operation

Is there anyone out there that is familiar with how the P series seed drill operate? I'm tring to figure out why one side of my drill operates correctly(apparently) and the other side does not, but I'm unsure as to how it's supposed to function to begin with. Specifically, does the shaft in to bottom of the box that moves seed into the seed tubes turn regardless of whether or not you want to be putting seed down? the shaft on the apparently good side does turn all the time. It would seem that you would get a build up of seed in the seed tube so that when you drop the ground openers down to begin seed deposit you'ld get a slug of seed. Maybe not, but that's why I'd like to touch base with someone by email. Thanks.

Kurt, the shaft is not supposed to turn when you lift the runners out of the ground, otherwise you would be dumping seed turning around, going down the road, whatever. I think if you watch what is going on when you trip the clutch on each side of the drill that you will figure out what is going on. You can jack up each wheel and turn it and watch what happens when you trip the clutch, should be pretty self explanatory. Hope this helps.
