Hey guys I was wondering if a ub was ever shipped from the factory with a G motor in it?

In about 1969 my dad bought a UB Special narrow front gas that had a GB engine in it. I don't know the year of the tractor but it was probably about 1955 vintage. The seller claimed the GB engine had been installed by a puller. The engine had also had a moderate amount of soup-up work performed on it, and pulled four 14" bottoms in heavy bottomland clay all day at 1850 rpm in second gear without breaking a sweat. In the tough spots you could crack it open a little more to 2000 rpm. Third gear was good for pulling a 14' disk. In the off-season it did PTO work like feed grinding and silage blowing. This tractor ran for years and never needed any engine work; it was also remarkbly fuel effecienct.

comments on ub w/g engine; my cousin bought one new from dealer in 53. I can still remember him plowing with it across the road from us. It made our 51 u look SLOW. Wish he would have kept it-traded for a new 670.

I never heard of a UB leaving the factory with a G engine but moline did a lot of small number trial tractors that were never recorded. A lot of pullers put g engines in U's/UB's.

As a general rule the 403 was put in at the dealers. Several dealer installed motor replacements were done that way up into the 70's. 504 replaced with 800 cid etc. Some of the fellows have old paper work relateing to this. Go to the Twin City and MM pulling page Oe the Moline Home Page
