I have a chance to buy a Universal Moline - big wheels (steel) in the front, small wheels and seat in the rear, hinged in the middle. Fellow says it has always been kept in the barn. Hasn't been used since the 30s. Hasn't been run for ten years but not stuck. Looks to be complete, as far as I can tell. Is this in the MM family of tractors? Is it worth restoring? He wants me to make an offer; can anybody help with this? Thanks, Jake

This Moline sold for $5000.00 the plow $500.00 total,$5500.00 at sale this weeknd.

jake they are a desriable tractor to restore pretty hard to come by in good cond have seen them sell for 1800 in poor shape to 6500 restored the company is associated with mm good luck i had looked at one stuck and pretty poor cond and they were asking 3500 it sold for 2500 so give it your best if you dont purchase it or he wants more than u want to pay let me know i would be intersted in it thanks john

Just found a Moline Universal Tractor. The earliest serial # on the motor is 1904. It says Moline Plow Company.
It appears to be in restorable condition.
Where do I find information on it.

It's a 4 cylinder. The older gentleman says his father bought it in 1919. Is that possible?

Jake,
The first information I have on the 4 Cylinder overhead valve model is dated 1918 which is supposedly the 1st year it was sold. (The 2 cyl was sold beginning in 1915 & was Moline's 1st tractor). The 4 cyl is shown with 2 btm power lift plow, dbl disk, 2 row cult, corn binder, grain binder, grain drill & one way disc harrow. Looks like it has water tanks built into the drive wheels for adding weight. Was called the model 'D'. It could be equiped with self starter and electric lights. It weighed ~ 3400 lbs & plows with the 2 btm @ 3.5 mi/hr. JK

Wow! a Moline Universal! I have never seen but 2 and one of them is incomplete. IN dry storage! Most of my MMs came out of the weeds, frozen stuck, ready to become junk.

Big Ed Sigmon in Newton, NC has a plow on his. It would probably really cost you,to buy it though, even though the tractor appears to be incomplete.
