Saw a UB on a dealer lot today. Serial # indicates a 1953 model. Gas engine, narrow front. Sheetmetal in excellent shape, recent and better than average paint job. Seems to run good. Even has original working headlights. Dealer wants $2,850.00. Seems like alot. What do you guys think?

There is an ad in the classifieds on this site for a UB that has been overhauled for $1850. You may want to contact the person for more info, but it could be a better buy, or not.

It sounds like the dealer is pricing it by the Intertec Used Tractor Price Guide. My 2000 guide lists the following prices for a 1953 UBU gas:
Fair $1210
Good $2340
Premium $2860

If you like the tractor see if the dealer will take less.

look at it this way. I bought non-running '54 UTS
bad engine, torn up clutch, rode hard, stabled wet. by the time-five years-later I had a good running, painted tractor, I had over 8 thou. invested.

Look at it this way, how many 1953 ub molines have been made lately. If it`s a good tractor that is probably not a bad price.
