A freind of mine is restoring a 53 U and he asked me what color the rear wheel hubs should
be painted. I think mine still had the original paint
and mine were prarie gold. He sand blasted his
and he says it looks like they were red, but he thought it may have been primer. Both of our tractors have the bolt on wheels. All the literature and book I have show the hubs prarie gold except the earlier trators that have the wheels that clamp directly to the axles. Another question I have- is anyone reproducing the correct mufflers for these tractors? I think I have seen ads for them but I havent been able to find them

Yes the hubs are supposed to be prarie gold. Oren Schmidt of Homestead, IA is reproducing mufflers. His phone number is 319-662-4388.

Right, hubs are prarie gold. I restored a 1953 U last year, if you want to see a picture of it E mail me.
