OK maybe if its stock i would only bore it .060 over if your using it for farm.
If your pulling with it then its a differnt story, thats when money is your limit, i dont know excatly how far you can take a 4.25 to i would say 4 3/8 but im not sure.
ask you local machine shop a good machinist that started in the 60's can always answer that question, my machinist builds race motors for cars but he got started over building JD pulling tractors that where just trying to keep up with the MM. Good luck

i acquired a 1953 ub which had been run out of oil and spun a bearing on the crank.the blocks i have right now are already 4 5/8. i don't know what they were originaly off of but it was a nice suprise when the heads came off.

what block do you start with? or is this one of those things where you bore it to the nuts and run it with out water?

you use a 10A149A block and if done properly you can bore it too as much as 5.75 and still run water 5.5 is much easier and cheaper just remember to plan your entire engine before you start and youll save yourself a lot of headaches.(ie. bore.stroke.comp.ratio head.and camshaft)
