Need help. I am considering buying a MM 1355 from an individual for $2,500. The tractor runs good, etc. but brake is stuck on right wheel. Seller says that it got very hot while plowing and he thinks it melted a seal because axle started leaking at same time. This was about three years ago before he parked the tractor. Said he didn't think parts were hard to find. I know very little about mechanics or MMs. Only I've heard they are very good tractors. What do you think? Is price too high? Are parts hard to find? From reading responses to R.Reimer's inquiry about these tractors, should I be concerned about problems with rear-end?

Sounds likea steal at that price. You're getting more torque and HP for the price than any othe color tractor you could buy. I'd heard the rumors about rear ene problems but ccould not find any substance for them. The oliver rearend in that thing is just great. Make sure you have the oil pump upgrade. It should have an after-market exterior pump on the left side of the engine. The factory original wasn't up to snuff. But if the old thing's still around, it probably has it. I have clutch problems and am looking forward to replacing mine in the next year or so. You have to use heaters in the winter to start, most diesel's do but these need it at anything below 55. I've found the stock manifold heater and a 110v water heater to solve all starting problems. Another warning, don't park it in gear with any load on the drivetrain unless you are sure you can start it and drive it out. Shifting out of gear under stress not running can be frustrating. I am very happy with mine, if you have any questions, let me know.

As for the parts I think they use the same rearend in the White 2-150 and some of the Oliver tractors.
