I have the opertunity to buy a ub with a bad motor. What other engines can fit in this tractor with little or no modification? Where can I find parts for this tractor at a reasonable price? thanks!!

What is bad in the engine I have most parts for a 283 4-A or B. Most of the base blocks will set in there 336 283 403 take some minor modification on each. so will depend on what you want to do as to how involved it can get.

I can't tell any major differences myself. Rocker arms are different push rods are different. Rods are different numbers. Several number differences that I've found but parts interchange. So I can't tell you really. There might be more significant changes between the U engine and the UB engine maybe somebody smarter than me will fill us both in.

I am glad you said something about this, manoman you learn something new everyday. It makes me wonder why they did this???? Really does make much since from the manufacturing and tooling standpoint. Unless they came from different venders that delt with MM ect food for thought. This warants a phone call to some MM gurus. If I do find out I will post the info later.
