I need a starter for a 403 Gas motor. Even a junker would help as maybe we could rob a coil out of it and put in the on I have. Thanks.

Careful on the configurations as well as loads and voltages. I have a 50 UTS and a 50 U and a 54 UB - 3 different starters - the U and UTS should be same but length of nose makes them NOT interchangeable unless you figure out how to fix spacing. I think the guy who had the U was starting to set up a cheater as it has M5 jugs - no telling what is inside. UB and UTS interchange physically but UB is 12 volt. Believe 403 GB were similar to UB but maybe larger housing diameter (larger diameter coil?). Note later 403's on GB were 12 volt - not sure about early 403s.

Thanks for the offer but the 403 fastens to the motor by slip fitting through a hole in the casting and held in with a tapered bolt. Simuliar to the chalmers B & C. Thanks again. Jerry

That would be the same as the mounts for a UB (283 cid) and 445 (206 cid). In fact I have a UB starter in one of my 445s. No extra spares there. These two I have are a Autolite MZ 4184 and Delco Remy 1107356.

Yes, like a U and Z. When I get mine back from the starter repair I want to check it against my U starter. The one I have might be repairable but My starter guy and I are starting to lose hope.

Not having seen a 403 engine I don't know how the starter mounts. I have two starters I bought as spares for a M670 (336cid). These two starters the spacing between the three mounting holes is about an inch smaller than the spacing for the 336. Later today I can measure the spacing between the mounting holes if yours mounts that way. Bryce

There is a starter listed on eBag that is listed as a RTU starter. Looks like it is a single bolt mount with the part of the bellhousing that it fits into. It is auction no 7622226101
