My dad Blessed me with a MM RE(on the motor) and ZTU (on the tranny), tractor. I need to order a service manual for the motor but can only find manuals for "RTE". ARE THEY THE SAME THING?

Hellow, your tractor is a model "Z". The Z series uses a RE engine and the model R uses a EE series engine. M-M put sn.# on the engine because they sold engines as power units also. When the engine was put in the tractors they went by the tractor sn# that is on the right side of the transmision.As for a manual give Deur's a try at ph.231-924-3420

You have a MM modle Z tractor. Or to be exact a ZTU . U for universal or narrow frount. The engine RE is 3 5/8" bore by 5" stroke 206 cid. You need to get a manual for a MM Z tractor. Also try the minneapolis-moline.com web site for more info. also they have a pic. of a Z tractor there you can compare to yours. Larry

RE engines are not 206 ci. RE engines are 3-5/8 x 4-1/2 (about 186 ci) RE engines had ball bearings front and rear to support the crankshaft with an oil collar in the middle to provide oil to the rod bearings. Later 206 engines had a roller bearing in front and shell bearings in the middle and rear with the rear being the thrust bearing. I'm not sure but I think the 206 engine didn't come out until the ZA series. All ZT series should have 186 ci engine. The EE engine used in all R series had a front roller bearing and a rear shell thrust bearing without any type of center bearing. Hope this helps clear up any confusion.
