How do i go about freeing,up the engine? I obviously need help!

We recently had a Z that was stuck.We put Marvel mystery oil down the cylinders and put a propane space heater a few feet from the cylinder block.The purpose of that is to expand the cyinder to let the oil seep into the gap.It is best to remove the fuel tank when doing this.Do this over several days and just get the block warm.This worked for me!

dump deisel fuel down the plug holes and let it sit and soak patiently. Try to turn on the crank a little bit every day until it loosens up.

I have written a lengthy article on the MM website - I believe lindsey has sent the thread to you. The trick is to soak them. If you get lucky, you won't have to pull the blocks. How long has the tractor been sitting?

You'll need to pull the plugs and pour penetrating oils/combination I described in that letter into the cylinder bores and let it sit for a few days/week or so.

I can't tell you for sure since I just bought the tractor. Previous owner said it was not stuck and I thought I would give it a try. Seen an R in a county fair and liked the way she looked!

1ST remove spark plugs,clean cylinders with compressed air, fill cooling system with water.
If water comes out spark plug holes don't waste any more time ,SHE'S BUSTED,tear her down and replace the busted jug.If she's dry, pour laquer thinner in the cylinders and let her soak, thic will cut the varnish. sludge,rust ,and carbon.
After this has soaked through for a week or so,fill the cylinders with a good quality penetrating oil of your choice, put the transmission in road gear and every time you walk past her give the wheel a shove(this shakes the pistons and lets the penetrant do it's stuff. While all this is going on remove valve cover and make sure valves are free, remove side cover make sure crank is free.REMEMBER PATIENCE IS THE CHEAPEST TOOL YOU HAVE! GOOD LUCK

use the above address to get to a discussion thread that covers this issue. Success depends on how much time & patience you have. Also may depend on how bad your engine is stuck.

If you want to bypass this step, Pete Brandel in New Ulm, MN had some R/Z blocks he would sell earlier in the year. give him a call at 507-354-5214. Tell him what you need and he may still have them. He is a nice guy and I bought some stuff from him before. If you get new cylinder blocks I may be interested in your stuck ones if you would let them go.
