I am an ag-science teacher in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Last November, one of my 9th grade students was killed in an ATV accident. Shortly before his death, he had talked with me a little about fixing up an old Farmall M that his family had. I am very familiar with the M's, having several of our own, and I was going to help him out with this project. After he passed away, his father approached me, and was wondering if our FFA chapter could restore the tractor in his son's memory, and that he would pay for all of the needed parts. My students are very eager to do this, as am I. I don't think that the family has a whole lot of money to put into this tractor, but at the same time I want to make sure we do this project right. I also want to use it as a teaching tool for the rest of the students. The father has mentioned that he might donate this tractor to a local antique farm machinery club in his sons memory once it is restored. I posted a message about this situation several weeks ago on several different forums, and what I was looking for was just a cheap place to get some parts. I was amazed that there were so many people around the country who were interested in donating money towards this project. I have talked to my administrators and the school district business manager, and I have the approval to get donations once we have an FFA meeting and get it in our minutes that we will accept donations for this project. We will work the donations through our FFA chapter so that the donations dont get caught up or lost in the school system. If we get more donations than are needed for the restoration, we will try to set up a scholarship account in the boys name. If we cant do that, we will probably donate it towards a charity of the familys choice, or just give the money to the family. If you are interested in donating to this cause, please send your donation to: Michael Shultz Agriculture Instructor Faust Junior High School 1957 Scotland Avenue Chambersburg, PA 17201 Make checks out to Chambersburg FFA, and in the memo section put Unger Restoration Fund Enclose a return address, and I will make sure that you get a letter back from the FFA Chapter with your check number and donation amount on it so that if you wish you can use it as a tax deduction. (This may take a month or so to get back to you). If you have any questions, please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I am putting this message on about 10 forums in hopes of getting donations, so I will not be able to respond to questions asked directly on this forum on a regular basis. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Michael Shultz
