Three weeks ago I bought a 670 LP 150 miles south of me. It cost me over 3X in fuel costs as it would have 5-6 years ago.. I know these fuel prices these days are hurting all sorts of transportation costs.

I was searching the entire midwest market looking to buy a MM tractor, but shortened the search radius to my home state... just cause the expense of hauling has gotten so high.

These prices also hurt the good folks who want to haul their antique iron around to the shows and fairs this summer. It's hard spending a few hundred in fuel costs just to show your tractor at a three day event.

Not to mention the State police in Illinois seem to be a "for profit business". If you travel thru Illinois be carefull. They are EVERYWHERE, and LOVE to give tickets. Its horrible. They even have dummy vehicles parked along side the roads taking pictures to send you a ticket in the mail.

When I was hauling my 670 back up north. I was hassled for forty minutes by a state cop on Interstate 57. He claimed my tail lights were "not working"...but when I pulled over, they seemed to be working just fine...hmmm

Travel Safe this summer, Clive Saddler.

I have had my share of D.O.T. hassles,MN. seems to be the worst. IN. is becoming #2. I have G750 in IA. and my local JD dealer is bringing it on a back haul it's not as quick as going myself, ,but a little cheaper, and the d.o.t.leaves me alone.

Clive and Guys; We were looking for a G706 for a long time...we found one 100m from our farm! Also a LA Case,155m from home..A JD BW 125m away. We looked close just because of fuel prices. We don't want to quit collecting old iron, BUT like everyone else feel the pain at the pump. We go to shows, but stay around 100m from home. In Mn. there are a lot of shows so, that helps. Even last yr. we seen a slight drop in people at shows. We have 2 112 JD garden tractors...maybe that's the way to go! SO FAR in Mn cops have left most old iron haulers alone. As long as you have the normal safety stuff, and 4 chains. Iv'e been never been stopped, and we hauled all over the midwest. Bobmn

Hi John, we are just outside of Yorkville. It's just a short jog south of the southern burbs. It keeps growing around us, but were not selling the farm. Even if they put in a Sprawl-Mart next door.

Yeah John , I do hope to make the show this July. Thats not a bad drive for me at all. I may even take my 670 there since its not too far.

The fellow I just bought it from in central IL, gave me some info on the show and also encouraged me to attend. He had some rare looking Molines, and I am interested in seeing more at the show.

I made it to the show in Penfield,IL probably 12 years ago, but have not been to a collector meet since. Im looking forward to it.

Enjoy the nice weather, Clive Saddler
