Kinda a extension of another post, but here goes. I hooked my 950 to a dyno the other day at the neighbors. The tractor only runs 1925 rpm wide open no load, the M&W book says to pull it to rated PTO speed (1800rpm) and read the HP reading. 125 rpm isn't all that much. If this is correct this tractor has only 30-40 horse. We kept cranking it down to see where the gauge topped out at and I saw close to 110 hp. Seems more like it. My question is, do you have to set the governed RPM's up before dynoing this tractor in order to pull it down properly? Or just crank it till she tops out. I think we were around 1500 rpm @ 110 hp. I am new to running a dyno and am a little confused. By the way it was a P400B dyno.

Your M&W book should give the high idle and PTO speed. You can set your govener by the PTO speed recorded on the dyno. You must start there. if you can not get enough speed by backing the govener screw out Your govener spring is weak.
