I have a road grader down the road that was built by American Grader out of a Moline. It appears to be an odd duck because of the G chassis and the U sheet metal. I did look at the engine and it also had the 283. Is this a common find? Was it comon for them to cross up the two?

Willy,

I believe what you have is a UG, do you know the serial number of the tractor? Mine is number 79 out of 100 built. The tag on the right side of the transmission housing should have the number on it (if it's still there).

Joe

They are not crossed-up what you are looking at is a UTI converted to a roadgrader. The G tractor got its rearend from the UTIs I have had several early Gs and they all had UT part numbers on the castings.

Thanks for the reply. I did notice too that the brakes and clutch pedals looked to be UB. it did have a foot clutch.
