Minneapolis Moline CR Rake

Anyone know anything about these rakes? I just bought on today and am wondering what to look for as far as issues with them. I have been looking for a cheap NH Rake to use and found this instead. It will look real good along with all the other MM tractors and equipment. Were they all red frames and yellow wheels? I noticed that there were later ones that had the wheels set up at angles like a NH, I think that is a CR3? maybe. Does anyone have any pictures of one that has been restored. Surely there were more decals on them than just the tag on the frame, or not. I am going to paint it up and show it off a little while I'm using it. Now only if I had a late model MM baler, crimper, and sickle mower I'd have the whole set. Maybe someday!

I have 2 of the CR rakes. I also have 2 of the Oliver 107 rakes. They look the same. I am sure Oliver made these for MM. From 1968 to 1972 I pulled 3 of the Oliver 107's on an evener. I thought they were a very good rake. I did drill holes in all of the rake bar bearing holders and tap threads in them so I could install a grease zerk. I have the Oliver 417 pull type trailer mower and the MM mower to match. I show them with the rakes hooked behind. They are exactly alike except for the paint. Makes a nice pair of show peices. And like you ..... . maybe someday I can find the Crimper.

Alan, the serial number tag says MM made in Canada for Minneapolis Moline, Model CR, Cockshutt Farm Equipment Brantford, Ontario. Thats kinda neat because in '59 Cockshutt and the White takeover wasn't even a glint in an eye. If you caould send me a pic I will love to see it. I should get it home this weekend and I'll take pic and post it. It is about 60 miles away. It would probably make it but won't chance it. I assume I can't get parts for it. I have seen 10 year old rakes with LOTS more wear on them than this, Other than being weathered, its in great shape!

Posted a picture in the Implement Photos of the MM rake I was referring to titled 1959 MM haymakers. Cockshutt...wondered about that at one time.

Thats a lucky find. I have only seen two of them. One was all yellow, and the other had rust on it but might have been red. Some literature I have shows some in 1959 that were brown. At least it looks that way. Think it might have been a mounted pto rake. I can email you a picture. Did MM make these or were they made by another company?
