found out why the pump get"s hot, it has constant high piessure on the remote cyl lines. when i hook a line between the two and open the valve for that line the pressure and heat go away! where do i look now?

Had the exact same problem last spring on my 950. After plowing with it for about an hour the hyd. would get so hot it would burn your hand to touch the pump. I took the pump off and found that the slipper shoes on the pistons were about to fall off. There was alot of slop in it causing some of the trouble. I rebuilt the pump myself and re-installed it on the tractor. There is a hyd shop in Decatur, IL that is very familiar with the pumps and could get almost anything for them. They claim that pump is used on alot of old Trackmobiles. After I installed the pump, things cooled off about 10 degrees but still was way too hot. I removed the Gresen stack valve (remotes) and inspected it. I found a plug with a blown oring on it. This was the plug in the end closest to the seat. Before I did this I could hear a hiss in the valve. After replacing the oring the hiss and the heat is gone. I also have been backing the pressure off when I don't need it. I adjust the pressure up only to the point that it does the job, and leave it there. Haven't had trouble since.

O. K. I am not the yellow paint guy, I am the green paint (Oliver) guy. Pretty well same pump but runs the other way if I remember correctly. With the oil warm stick a 3000 PSI gauge on a coupler and see what you have for pressure. J.

Mine is working OK, but have recently wanted to adjust the pressure to pickup (end transport) the 12 row planter. The IT manual is not too specific and I will not go "poking" around without some guidance. The MM guy I knew has left the company. Therefore, it would be appreciated if you could give some instructions. Thanks.

I took a 6000 psi gage in the remote and actuated the lever. Turn the slotted adjuster that points down on the pump in or out to achieve the pressure needed to raise your planter. I run mine on the round baler and only turn the screw in far enough to raise the gate and leave it there.

Thanks to both you and the Oliver man. I thought it would be on the pump, but was concerned the implement valve might control relief pressure, and any adjustment needed to be done there. I believe the nominal MM system pressure is 2000 psi, the planter calls for a minimum of 2400 psi. The only problem we have had was trying to raise the planter with the end transport trucks with the fertilizer hoppers full. The MM wouldn't do it. We had to hook the big tractor hydraulics (2800 psi) to raise it. They don't recommend transporting with full fertilizer, but we got into a bind and hopefully it will not be necessary to do it again. However one never knows, therefore the desire to increase the MM's pressure.

A fellow employee's father owned a MM dealership and apparently they had concerns about the hydraulic pump getting too hot when the tractors were new. They installed a hydraulic cooler in the hydraulic pump case drain line on every tractor they sold. The post indicates yours is even hotter. I assume you realize that the closed system hydraulic pump pressurizes everything downstream to the relief pressure then destrokes until flow is required. Apparently the hydraulic pump is not destroking after it pressurizes the system. I assume it is a Webster pump and therefore parts are not readily available. If you don't have an internal leak somewhere which is acting like a restricted orifice causing the pump to remain stroked and pumping at high pressure, the problem is somewhere in the internal pump controls. If so, it could be debris stuck in some control orifice. I probably would remove it and take it to a hydraulic rebuild shop for a checkup.
