R Hood with side curtains

On an RTI, did MM ever use the hood with side curtains or were all RTI's made with the later style hood. I thought all R's had the hood style change sometime in 1949. I have seen older (1947-48) RTI's with the newer style hood. Were these most likely changed?

All the UTIs with Lull equipment had the sides removed.

Loren,
The RTI was the first model to implement the one piece hood for the reasons MMDEL listed. This hood was implemented with the first RTI produced in 1948. The rest of the R lineup implemented the new hood midway through the 1949 model year.

Does that mean that any RTI before 1948 would have the hood with side curtains? I have seen a very early (about 1941) RTI with the old style hood.
I have a 1948 with a poor new style hood, no loader, and was thinking of using an old style hood that I have. I've sold my 1949 RTI that had the Lull loader. It also had the new hood style.

Loren,
Yes. Any RTI prior to 1948 should have the early style hinged and louvered hood sides. I see a lot of RTI's with the early hood but the louvered sides have been removed to allow access to the engine when an attachement like a loader is installed.

I didn't look in my books to see if the first RTIs were less sides. But they were made that way because you could not open the side curtains with Lull loader and other mounted equipment. Then later they put that same hood on the ag. tractors.
